Shady Grove Orthopaedic Associates, P.A. welcomes Dr. Brett J. Hampton to our practice.  Dr. Hampton is Board Certified and specializes in Adult Reconstruction, Total Joint Replacement of the Hip and Knee.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Hampton completed a fellowship in Arthritis and Reconstructive Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, a world famous institution in the development of total joint replacement technology and surgical techniques.

Prior to joining Shady Grove Orthopaedic Associates, Dr. Hampton served as the Director of the Adult Reconstruction Division at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His military experiences include a combat tour at the Ibn Sina Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq.

Dr. Hampton is a native of Montgomery County, and a graduate of St. John’s College High School in the District of Columbia.  He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University.  Dr. Hampton earned his medical degree with distinction from The George Washington University School of Medicine, where he graduated as Valedictorian in 1996.  While in medical school, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society, and received the Lawrence A. Rapee and John Ordronaux Awards, both given to the student with the highest scholastic standing.  Dr. Hampton completed his Internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and then served two years as a General Medical Officer in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), U.S. Army.  He did his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Virginia.  He has authored journal articles, contributed chapters to several textbooks, and presented at international and academic conferences.  His special interests include complex reconstruction of the hip and knee and extremity fracture care. 

Dr. Hampton and his wife have two children, and they enjoy playing sports and traveling together.
